Founded in 1890 by J.F. Weaver in Roseville, Ohio, Roseville Pottery was one of the fastest growing pottery companies at the turn of the century. After incorporating three other ceramic plants from 1895 to 1901, the company relocated to Zanesville, Ohio, where it remained until its eventual closure in 1954. Perhaps mostly famously, the company employed art director Frederick Hurten Rhead, a British potter contemporaneously best remembered for his later “Fiesta ware” designs for the Homer Laughlin China Company. Frank Ferrell, who took over the designs after Rhead left in 1909, was responsible for most of the floral and plant design lines produced by the company.
Unlike earthenware, which is prone to chipping and crazing, stoneware’s non-porous body maintains a tighter chemical composition, ensuring its durability. Both because of its strength and long-lived production, Roseville Pottery remains one of the most-collected ceramics from the art pottery movement.

Why are shipping costs so high?

The shipping cost is determined by the postal service which is described below Due to the various sizes and weights of the items in my shop I unfortunately cannot offer free shipping
I utilize the USPS for shipping all packages and have found them to be the most economical and reliable

USPS has discontinued Regional Rate Box prices. This means that this mail class is no longer available
USPS uses Cubic Pricing rates which are determined by package dimensions and distance traveled instead of weight
