Sorry, this item has sold.

This Vintage Peter Paul's Cream Mints Tin made by the Peter Paul Manufacturing Company, New Haven, Connecticut, circa 1935.
This cheery orange red and black/gold lithograph tin has two 1930s style fairy women with wings at the top of both sides and advertises that this candy is 100% pure. This 2 1/2 oz. tin originally cost only 10 cents. The sides each show a handled candy dish filled with candy mints.

In very good to excellent condition with bright colors and clear graphics. The interior has very minor oxidation and no rust. The lid is a little tight but it is removable.

This hard-to-find candy mint tin is from the candy giant, Peter Paul, who coined the famous advertising campaign featuring the line,
“Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t,” which referred to the company’s two most popular candies, Mounds and Almond Joy.

Measures approximately 3 1/4 inches tall x 2 1/4 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches deep.

HISTORY: During World War I, the U.S. Army asked candy makers, including Peter Paul, to make chocolate bars for soldiers. After the war, Peter Paul wanted to expand his business. In 1919, Paul and Kazanjian convinced four friends and family members to invest in their company and named it Peter Paul Manufacturing Company, located in New Haven, Conn.

There was a lot of competition in the candy business. In 1921, the Peter Paul Manufacturing Company introduced the Mounds candy bar. The Mounds bar had chocolate on the outside and coconut on the inside. It quickly became the company’s best-selling candy.

In 1978, the company was sold to Cadbury Schweppes and in 1988, the company was sold again to Hershey’s. Peter Halajian’s candy company will always be remembered as one of Connecticut’s most successful businesses.

Why are shipping costs so high?

The shipping cost is determined by the postal service which is described below Due to the various sizes and weights of the items in my shop I unfortunately cannot offer free shipping
I utilize the USPS for shipping all packages and have found them to be the most economical and reliable

USPS has discontinued Regional Rate Box prices. This means that this mail class is no longer available
USPS uses Cubic Pricing rates which are determined by package dimensions and distance traveled instead of weight
