Goebel Pottery Vintage Lemon/Orange Citrus Hand Juicer circa 1927

Sorry, this item has sold.

This vintage Goebel pottery orange citrus hand juicer is a rare find for the Goebel collector.
It is a brilliant bright orange color and has the size and feel of a medium orange, complete with the stippled feel of an orange skin!
It has bright green raised leaves which accent the lip and handle of the cup.

It is incised and stamped with early Goebel marks on the bottom. As well as "REGISTERED 1927"

Made by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik, a German potter, later and more recognizably, became known for Hummel figurines.

This early kitchenware piece is sweet, bright, fun and functional !!

There are no chips or cracks but some 'tea like' stains on the top juicer piece as seen in pictures
It measures 4 1/2" x 5" diameter

The little kitchen “pitcher” was manufactured by Hummel, or more accurately the W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik.
The story begins back in 1871, when Franz Detleff Goebel and his son, William, began making children’s slate pencils and toy marbles in Oeslau, Germany. When the financial means became available, they purchased a kiln and began in 1879 their dream of producing porcelain dinnerware and figurines under the name of W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik.

By 1931, their product line had expanded to include vases, lamps, ashtrays, bookends, candleholders and other household accessories such as the orange/ lemon juicer.
However, by far the most fortuitous venture for the Goebels came when they began manufacturing the now-world-famous M. I. Hummel statues.

Their Hummels depict the simple innocence of children long ago and are today the world’s most beloved figurines. Originally, they were introduced at the Leipzig Spring Fair as a new product line in March 1935. Each design is inspired by the paintings of Franciscan Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel of the Convent of Siessen. She gave exclusive rights to Goebel after seeing his original clay models, approving of the work of their sculptors as well as the warm colors and quality workmanship of the finished product.

This juicer predates Hummel figurines, and obviously is not a Hummel, but the crown trademark on the bottom is that of the parent Goebel Co.
